Pics of e30s with no bumpers or no trim

Hey, just looking for ideas for a dd/beater 4 door e30

Anyone have any pics of a driven early e30 with no bumpers

OR one with no plastic trim on early bumpers

Not a drift car, it is a GRM car. Designed for grip, and LOTS of it!

            structural component to bumpers?

e30s without bumpers are the way e30s were designed to look, in my opinion. the design clearly is a mild evolution, a la Porsche, of the shark-nose style pioneered by the csl and 2002, and it wasn't until the e36 that BMW really started considering the bumper as part of the car design and not the safety equivalent of a car bra.
RESOLVED, then, that I would seriously consider removing the bumpers, specially the front, from my next e30. I am aware this might have several ramifications though. 1, i'm pretty sure you can get a ticket for improper equipment if a policecop noticed. 2, i'm not sure never been in an accident but if auto insurers are like health insurers they will possibly decline to cover you if you wreck your car and sustain injuries and you had removed your bumper:???:
and finally 3, do e30 bumpers contribute to chassis integrity? they kind of look like they should when you see them removed.
            Thoughts?

In my thread I have pics of my car with tucked early bumpers and no surroundings.
I liked it at first but I think I'm going to put the surroundings back on, at least in the front.

thanks, i like the paintjob too. i wonder why people dont do more matte paintjobs and instead it's always wraps...homebrew aspect aside is there some longevity problem with matte?

no one has spoken up but i'm gonna go ahead and assume removing the bumper would void insurance, this thread http://forum.miata.net/vb/archive/in.../t-367954.html suggests this is the case. oh well.

although i've definitely seen restomodded cars with no bumpers on the road..

Bimmerfest 2006 had a e30 with shaved bumpers - it was a bit odd looking - I'll dig for the pic - it's was bronze. Buf if I can't find it, you might search pics from that year's bimmerfest.

um, yeah, interesting .... somehow the rust works on rusty mcslammington but this one.. good thing i saw this picture before I tried that.

                              in this build thread, http://retrorides.proboards.com/inde...&thread=108632
which is pretty impressive- he basically transplanted new subframes from an e46 so he could have multilink rear suspension- i like what he did with the two piece bumpers, that is another option.
