Where to purchase window tint film

I know everyones first reaction is to say have a pro do it. But I have plans for the tint.

I run, my own detail shop. I only do about 3 cars per weeks, but business has picked up and I do not advertise, yet.

I want to start doing tint jobs myself, and I figure my own car would be a good place to start.

called a couple local places, but they are smart and will not sell the film alone. I email 3m and Lumar today, I hope they will offer something...

In the mean time, does anyone know how much film I need to do my 525i, and where to buy it? I want to use inexpensive 35, because if I mess it up I wont loose much money, and I am giving the 5er to my lil brother, so I want him to be lookin cool...

Well my wal-mart has it. If your doesn't try napa or other car places. Even home depot/lowes has widnow tint (usually really big rolls for houses, big and cheap, lots of extra to practice with)

I found that Gila.com has precut DIY kits. I am going to practice with this, the material for my car is only $50.

I have already recieved the necessary forms to become a LLumar dealer, so if it works out that I can tint cars, well I will be tinting cars!

I've done it. I tinted my office windows, with Gilas stuff. BUY EXTRA, you will mess up, I know I did. :oops:

buy it from e-bay. you can get huge rolls of it pretty damn cheap. also a word to the wise.... make sure you have a heat gun, and dont use cheap tint, it is a pain in the a** to work with and will not turn out as good. My best friend tints a few cars a week, its not as easy as it looks, and at the same time its not that hard if you know what your doing. You will need at the minimum a few really good exacto style blades, a lot of baby shampoo in a spray bottle and a few really good, different shaped squegees(s/p) or bondo aplicators. godd luck hope it works out for you.

i have a tint/ auto shop, and my advise is not to work on customer cars unless u are a pro because it will end up costing u more that u can afford,
suntek, madico, johnson film are the best u can get, easiest to work with and it will not look like shit in few month, we get alot of ppl coming in to buy just the film, and i sell them just cuz i kno they will be back to get the job professionlly done,
dunt think its easy to do cuz u saw some one do it, its alot more than u think, and to do the job right u need the right tool, not the stuff that u would get at autozone.

my advise is to hire some one to do it and watch him and try to work with him, once u learn the skill then u can do it
madico account is a good start, also stay away from 3m film (no good)

also try suntek, and becarefull of the newer cars , they have antennas and other thing in the back glass, so not all films will work.

He said Llumar pays him an assload on warranty work, so he actually makes more to fix bad tint than he makes to do the original tintjob.

I think I will attempt it on my car first. Hell I wont even be driving it any more. My little brother gets it and I am stealing TinMan's 325is. He already has tint if I remember correctly

llumar will not pay for warranty work, but instead they give u credit to get new filmfrom them, same goes with all the other tint films
