    Rear bumper plastic question.

so, now that I've almost completed the rear bumper conversion to plastic the sides seem to poke out about 1/4 inch on both sides.
Still need to form the bottom end of the bumper to the arch of the opening.

The car is a 88 vert. Has any one come into this situation?

I'm thinking I'm gonna have to tap in the sides where the mounting pieces are at to make flush. What are the thoughts?

Here are a few pics so you can see what I'm talking about.

    Thanks in advance

I had to slightly modify the very edge of the bumper where it tucks into the wheel arch. Then I used a screw and speed clip under the molding to hold it in place through an existing hole.
