ok...it's been a while due to a waiting game on parts and the bizarre weather we've been having. I have put more of the motor together. :-) -

i think its sweet when u pop the hood and its screaming with color. why the hell not?
do you. let the ppl who hate it comment and ignore them. i think some ppl need it for their self esteem. plus i think its funnier when someone comes in hating or saying your motor will fail and theyre just ignored as if they didnt comment in the first place.lol
keep it upLeave a comment:

engines don't know how much you spend you need the right parts.
it takes quite a bit to make an extra 80-90whp with not much more cc than stock B25. A 282 cam, AFM, Motronic aren't condusive either but time might tell...........Leave a comment:

Well, according to him and he's been doing this for a good while....this is what the car is putting out "approximately" give or take a few. 220-240 - not a ridiculous est. because he knows what he's doing.Leave a comment:

its good that everyone is happy but there is no point overstating things. If he estimates 220rwhp why did you say 240? also seems like you are saying a 2.8L with 323i crank and +1 pistons which doesn't really workout. Probably won't come close to what he wants but will be a nice step up from a B25.......How did I know you were going to respond to this Rudy...:)why don't you give Boxer2 a shout and call him a liar then..LOL He's got one in his e30 at his shop. Stroker rebuilt. Unless he's got his figures wrong. I mean he spent 5k on his motor and with that money I don't believe he's going to get a 10-20 hp gain.
Here is what he has:
282 shriek cam
Stage 3 VAC with all the goodies
bored over 1mm. 2.8
chipped -24lb injectors
M30 AFM -cold air intake
Ported and polished
Free flow duel exhaust
CP Custom pistons and connecting rods
Crank euro e30 323
410 LSD
if the m20 2.5 is listed with 168-170bhp. fine not at the rear wheels. WHO in their right mind is going to spend 5k on an engine to get maybe 20hp? not likely. his est is although not dyno's yet is approx 220 to the rear. He's quite confident the car has it. but you can ask him when it is on the road next summer. ;)
btw..everyone is a critic and has an opinion...doesn't really matter in the end as long as the person who has it is happy.Leave a comment:

An M20 making Two Hundred and Forty At the Wheels?!! I thought you were smarter than that man. E36 M3s crank out 200-220 at the wheel all day long, thats 24v, and 3.2l displacement. How the hell could a done to the worlds end 3.0, maaaaaybe 3.1 12v engine spit out more?
Even if you were going for just that peak number, the motor would have no balls at all until it was wound out to 8k+ rpm, and that isn't even driveable on the street.

must have been built by the same blind man who did the painting........he said turbo option whatever that means but its fun taking the piss either way.Sorry Ernie, but you and I both know thats BULLSHIT. You can build an M20 to exceed 240+rwhp if you do your homework but its not within the realms of most E30 owners budgets.
There is nothing particularly special about M5X, S5x us versions they are regular 24V engines. An M20 with proper developement can make similar numbers to them, but won't have the same level of driveability, powerband or refinement. One only has to look at what those pushrod ones can do.Leave a comment:

My buddy did his and he's getting 240 rear wheel hp. with a turbo option, which I think is rather respectable considering the old technology. I do admit the newer motors look much cleaner and if done properly certainly add to the esthetics. but again, to each there own. Too many e30's are getting swaps and aren't done right which just spoils the car. I am not going to spend too much more here because I've invested enough already just bringing back to a fresh clean beginning. 7k later and counting. Restoration isn't cheap. :-)
thanks.

Not trying to start drama either, just thought what he said was pretty funny. But I like to see people still using the m20 motor, so good job there!Leave a comment:

not my bowl of soup. The engine would have looked much better if it was just CLEAN and all ORG!!Leave a comment:

not interested in the drama or gossip. I didn't post this to appease anyone or get approval of work I've done. but I would like to see how many people on here have actually spent a tonne or more on restoring their car. But thanks anyway. :-)Leave a comment:

:this is all just to silly..
yeah, that is why we are 'mad'. Cause we wish we had engine bays that clean
