    M-Technic Lower Panel Attachment Question

Car is a 1991 M-Tech (appearance) 325ic. I have two issues with the attachment of the lower M-Technic panel that is in front of the rear wheel (p/n's 51712234021/2, #4 in the attached M-Technic diagram).

    1. On both left and right sides, it appears that my panel is missing the middle tab on the lower edge that I guess fits in the slot shown in the first photo attached. As a result, the panel bows in in the middle. Just curious to know if those who have removed or installed the panels can shed any light - am I right? If so, any suggestions on how to fix?

    2. On the driver's side, the lower front edge of this same panel sticks out a little as shown in the second photo attached. I cannot figure out from the realoem.com diagram how this part of the panel is supposed to attach. Any advice on how to attach?

Last photo is my car, just as eye candy. I am almost done with recovering my seats with a cardinal red leather kit from Kevin at Creative Options - just need to finish up the passenger seat and I will post pictures.

    Thanks!

I remember these tabs when I installed my kit. They look like little L shapes that point towards the front of the car. So you hook those in, and slide the bottom of the panel into the skirt, and clip it in at the top. However, mine were broken off (like yours) so I filed the tab completely off the backside, mixed up some two part autobody epoxylike glue, and glued a straight tab on the back. It doesn't hook in like the original, but it at least gives the spacing where the panel should sit.
