try vinlylex. actually soak it on the first application so that your dash is remoisturized. that should stop the cracks. ohh, and get a sunshade too.

      What part of

"I dont have the time/budget to get a new dash."

      didn't you understand?

Anyway, why buy new when there are lots of good used ones out there and why buy from Pelican Parts when BMA & eap4parts are out there?
no need to be a dick about it ... i understand that you dont have time and or cash to get a new dash but black silicone isnt exactly gonna look great... i was just mentioning that it was there

and i said pelican becuase i saw the dash on there like 2 days ago...

anyways they also have a cover that fits over the old dash that is not a pad, its an actually tight fiting cover that matches the texture and fits pretty well.. its about 90 bucks tho.. i know someone who had something similar in his 5-series

I havent done anything with it yet, been too busy, but Im still searching for products that will work.

What can I do to keep it from getting wider? I see many e30 dashes with like 1/2 in wide cracks in them, I want to stop this from growing.

I read this thread the first day you posted it and thought to myself....."Wow, I must be really lucky! My dash is MINT." Then I get in my car today and notice a line running vertically above my glovebox up to the tray. At first, I tryed to wipe it off because I was hoping it was a black piece of lint.........NOPE. CRACK! damnit......damn jinx.....

Dont you guys put products on your dash to keep them "supple"? Large temp changes will cause them to crack/split.

Nothing is going to stop/cure the crack you have. Find a good sticker from your favorite tuner and stick it over the crack.

I think I would rather just look at the crack then a big sticker........what products do you use on your dash to preserve it?

the sticker Idea was once again, sarcasm.

I remove my dash weekly and soak it in Linseed oil.

I keep mine clean, and moisterized, but i guess the change was too great, from about -2 to about 40 degrees pretty quickly.
