Fading M tech 1 spoiler - what to do?

I bought my e30 with an mtech 1 rear spoiler on it about a year ago and the rubber section has begun to fade (car gets parked in the sun most days, previous owner drove it once a week...).

Is there anything I can use on it to try and keep it in at least decent condition or restore it? A friend has recommended painting it but i would really like to avoid that if i can...

This is a common issue with the black rubber bumpers on Jeeps.

If you want to go on the cheap, use shoe polish or peanut butter (srsly).
Or go out and get a product called Forever Black (http://www.foreverblack.com).

Then use 303 Aerospace protectant to maintain. http://www.303products.com/shop303/i...protectant.cfm

Why are you so against painting it? It pulls off the car easily and would only take a few hours to re-paint. Then it will be like new again.

Make sure on your m-tech 1 that you paint the black part with bumper trim paint. It has the flex agent in it and will revitalize the look of your spoiler, assuming the painted part is in good shape.

didnt get any photos but the forever black doesnt work very well due to the fact the rubber surface is smooth - this means you will end up with streaks in the finish.

Ive sent it off with one of our racecars to get painted at the same time as the shell - the guy doing it painted his mtech1 and it looks mint.
