I have priced up freight costs many times and it is always freight cost that is the killer.
I have seen many replica kits of various styles and there is some absolute garbage around, this is reasonable, certainly well above average for a replica.

I must be getting old, lol, I love the look of Breyton but I have one RD and one Kamei kit left and would fit one of those if i had a facelift purely because they are not fibreglass.

Only thing I can suggest is to get a replica over there and then get someone that does fibreglassing to lay another couple of layers of glass to the inside to give it some more strength which i have done before as the main prob with reps is they are egg shell thin

it was only about $300 US to ship a complete Mtech II kit and bumpers to the US, its not as expensive as you might think.

Who did you get quotes from glenn?

If i could work out a way to mount the IC i would be running a breyton kit in a heartbeat.

Smoothest kit ever seen on an E30 IMHO.
Just a little project im working on

Like anything, you can always get something cheaper.
When we get quotes we get them from larger freight companies because from our experience, the cheaper the freight the cheaper the service.

Even like here in Aus, we have ditched larger companies for smaller cheaper ones to have nothing but problems. I sent some Merc parts to US using a cheaper alternative, quoted 3-4 weeks delivery, in the end it took 12 so for 8 weeks I had an irate customer to calm down and the time that consumed would have cost more than the parts, which were being sold at a loss as it was.
Most requests I had also demanded that we use either UPS, DHL or Fedex. I have copared pricing between the 3 several times and they can vary but are all within the same ball park.
How long did it take for the $300us? as that is also another problem, peole usually want the part asap and are not willing to wait for a long time.
I have in the past been TOASTED by people in US for my shipping quotes, and I mean TOASTED so i have forwarded all of the dimensions, weights etc to them so that they can obtain quotes for themselves.
90% of the time they reply to say " shipping is too expensive and I got similar quotes"
In saying that, would be interested in knowing what company shipped a complete MTech2 kit for $300 so when you get a chance Rod could you PM me,
Cheers mate, see you at national meet??

Do you guys split up kits? Ie I really really dig the Ludwig Front airdamn and side skirts, but the rear apron isn't my style... + i think it would save a little on shipping.

of course this kit is 6 months away for me. Im broke now haha.

haha, isnt everyone with an E30 broke? lol
I know mine has "broken" me lately hehe, or maaybe around the other way :p

The Ludwig kit is no prob to split, the only ones we wont split are the Racing Dynamics, BBS and Kamei PU rim ones for the facelifts as we only have one of each left now so would rather keep them complete.

Glad in a way i got a blingbump early as it would be too hard to decide between Breyton, Kamei, BBS or RD.
I will have a chat to MrHatter about his shipping company as I am interested.

Totally agree with you to Rod, the Brey is the shhhhhhmoooth operator, only thing that turns me off is that with how low i like my cars i would have the bulldozer look at the front and not be able to drive it anywhere lol.

The last late car we had was Breyton'd and was not that low but was forever scraping everywhere.

they arent exactly a new company blowing through, it was with south coast customs, they have been around for 20 years, even mainfreight are pretty good (they are a global company with a bunch of connections), give them both a try. That price was US dollars too as payment was being made upon delivery. There is a difference between getting a good price and being ripped off.

I emailed 5 people from USA that had enquired on kits and asked if they would have purchased the parts if the shipping had been $300US. 4 said no and one said maybe so again it comes back to the fact that it is not worth spending hours and hours on shipping quotes to "maybe" sell one pair of side skirts for $350AUD that are below cost as it is.
It is different with a personal item that is your own, if they were mine i would spend more time but reality is, it is not my time, it is my employers and if the time outweighs what it cost to pay my wages then it is their call, especially when parts are being sold at a loss

You werent selling an Mtech II kit were you? :)

Think of how rare they are here, now send it to a market where they never even got cars with them on it. See why someone would pay $300 for a kit? i do :)

You dont need to spend hours, all it took was a 5 minute call to give them my dimensions, shipping address, pickup address, then they call back with a quote (or send it to your email / fax). I guess if you want to sell something for a couple of grand you have to make the effort, even if 9/10 people are just yanking your chain.

Is the fucking price listed on that site correct? Even if it costs just as much to ship it over here, that's still a damn good deal.
