there are replicas for the old bumper shocks

    and for the new ones.

I always thought MTechII kits for the late models were a straight swap?

        YES.

BUT the replica kits in fiberglass can be for the old ones and the new ones.

I have one on front of my car and I was going to answer you need the old bumper shocks....

But thats wrong too they have replicas for the new ones too. As well as the real ones.

          gay pasa?

The replica kits are suppose to mount over your stock late model bumper reinforcement bar. Not the bumper cover, but the white composite bar beneath it. Im sure there are other ways to do it but its designed to slip right over it. Without the bar, youd have to find a way to attach the turn signals in place as well.

no actually the fiberglass REPLICAS are usually for the old bumpers.

Mine is, the one that is actually on my car right now.

Thats what their market is you see the REAL mtech 2 kits are for the modern bumpers.

but they make the replicas either way.

Answer.... If you do a late model swap make sure the mtech 2 replica kid is for that bumper.

i dont think you can tell the difference when they are painted. but definitely get the plastic one if you have a choice. mine came with the car

edit, on cabriolets link they have them for old and new bumpers in plastic. So its settled both kinds are in fiberglass and plastic for both kinds of bumpers.

the main point of confusion here? The replicas LOOK like the modern bumper on the outside but use the old bumper shocks.

                  they are all one peice.

( the turn signals btw for mine are now attached to the bumper kit. )

theres a diving board underneath that but it takes some fabrication.

Main thing for op, what kit are you ordering? Just clear that up first then someone on the board can tell you what you need to do.

im positive the sellers of the kit will tell you also

This along with 80 percent of what youve ever posted in incorrect.

the money you save on the fiberglass junk is going to be spent at the bodyshop trying to get it to look kinda o.k. (which will still not look great) Do yourself a huge favor and keep saving for a used orig BMW set-up.
