    Is my spoiler broke?

I've been working on my car to prep for paint and It had a zender spoiler on it. I took the screws out of the spoiler and gave it a good pull and the spoiler wasn't going anwhere I realized it was stuck on with some sort of black tar stuff. I tried to heat it up with a heat gun to extreme temps from the under side of the trunk and it still went nowhere. So I had to get creative and took a putty knife and hammer and hammered the putty knife threw the black goo to get it off I was careful not to get the spoiler but fear I may have.. So here's some pics of how it sits now.

Probably molding tape or foam tape. If it was, heat makes the moulding tape or tar even stickier and harder to seperate, cold however makes it brittle and easier.

Spoiler is probably fine. So long as the edges where they meet the trunk weren't damaged, and you didn't pull threading out of the holes (Threaded inserts), she'll be good to go.

So should I let it sit out in the cold and then try and peal it off? I dont think I pulled the thread out.

Well it isn't "broke". Can you not tell by looking at it?

Yes I know it isn't broke, but I can't tell what that stuff is on it and if I f'd the bottom of it. I tried to pry it from the trunk and not take any of the spoiler, but I can't tell if I did. Is that black stuff supposed to be on the spoiler?

If you really have an 84 then i'm pretty sure this was added on after the fact. They probably used an adhesive tape for a
More secure fit and to prevent leaks onto the mounting holes. Just slap it back on and see how it fits? Only broken spoilers I've seen are dry rotted or the mounting threads get pulled out.

Your "damaged side in question" is definitely messed up. It should be flat, not chewed up, like your good side. pm'd.
