    Pinstripe over existing pinstripe...

Alright. My car originally had a white pinstripe on it, but there was some clearcoat painted over it, so in order to remove it, the car would have to be painted.

So I had my bodyshop guy put a vinyl pinstripe on over the painted stripe, this is the yellow/red stripe that I currently have.

In this pic, you can see the yellow/red stripe...and if you look very closely, right where it meets the trunk, you can see where a bit of the yellow/red chipped off, exposing the white stripe:

Anyways---I want to get rid of the stripes, I just want black. This would require repainting the whole car, so I am not going to do it!

My question is, can I get some black pinstriping and just go over the yellow/red? If so, what do you recommend getting and where? Are there any online places that sell pinstriping?

    Thanks,

Keep up at that rate, and you're going to have 1/4 inch of pinstriping sticking off your car!

I'm sure you could put some wider black pinstriping over the existing one, but you would still be able to see it. Not nearly as much as the others of course, but in the right light, it would stick out like a sore thumb.

Are you sure there is clearcoat over the white pinstripe?
Thats not common. It could be a painted on pinstripe. That is more common. If it is, just take it to a detail shop and have them buff it out, while there at it, have them buff the whole car.

oh, i didnt read closely enough. I would not recommend putting vinyl over the vinyl. Do it right and strip the yellow/red, then put the black vinyl on

Chris, there is definately clearcoat over some of the original pinstriping, due to panels being repainted after PO's accidents.

            I hate my car.
