How do I put the window trim back on ?

OK, I've got my window trim off and the new trim to put back on.
Do I put the clips on the car first or push it in to the trim and then snap it on ?

It is no longer available.

A lot of web sites show the part , but when you order them, they are not available, so you have to get it off another car.
