    Front Valance Removal

    Well I strained my ankle yesterday and I am now stuck in a boot thing that is too big for me to drive my car with. Because of it I am stuck driving a minivan and my foot can fit in its footwell. So since my car is not gonna be driven for about a month I wanted to clean it up a little for when it's back on the road. For those that remember my valance was bend by a towing company and as of yet they have not fixed it. So I figured I'll just do it myself.

    What I need to know is that steps required to take off the front valance. It appears as though the front bumper must be removed to get access to the bolts that hold the valance on, but I'm not entirely sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Feel underneath the front bumper around the indicators.
    Dig into your tool box and get the male hex bit for those bolts (I forget what size they are)
    Loosen them and pull the bumper gently towards you.
    Disconnect your side markers and turn signals.
    Pull bumper off.
    You'll figure how to get the valence off from this point.

      you'll need to remove the front bumper, then you can see if your front valence is bolted on or welded. hope that is bolted ;)

        I saw those hex bolts, I just wasnt sure if I had to take the black strip off or not. Thanks for clearing that up.

          None of them are welded. I don't know who started that rumor, but they are a moron.

          all of the 88+ valances are tack welded to the nose panel, making it one part. However it is still bolted to the core support and fenders.

          Your valance will be easier to straigten on the car, rather then off.

            Jordan was right, it will be easier to straighten on the car. Unfortunately I need some sort of spreader tool to fit between the valance and the unibody behind it so i can push on the valnce from behind. If I cannot find one I guess I'm gonna have to make it.
