    window issues on a vert

i have recently bought a 325ic that has 2 annoying window issues. First, the window catches the roof when you close the door. i hear this can be adjusted, but i don't really see anything short of just lowering the window that will work.

My second issue is "window chatter" This happens alot whent he top is down. If i close the door the windows make this great rust bucket sound because they are loose or? any ideas on how to tighen them or so?

    Thanks
    Julien

Yes, you need to take the door panel off. There is a cheaters way to do it with the door panel on. You can remove a piece of the trim and access an adjusting screw that way. I have seen it done on my car.

My car had the same problem when I bought it. The windows sealed up tight but the rear bit of the window caught on the top when you closed the door. So, you had to hold that piece of the top up when you closed the door. Pretty lame.

Here is the problem. When you adjust your windows they will not seal up tight with the top anymore. You can expect increased road noise and some friendly interior rain.

What really needs to happen is an angle adjustment for the window or a way to increase the height of the top at the rear. If you could do this then the window would seal tight and would match up to the top. I had read there was such an adjustment for the top frame but I have been unable to find it.

      Thoughts?

There are shims in three places on each side where the top bolts to the car in the rear.

How do you determine which shim to adjust and how do you do it?

Like said above, look in Bentley.

And as for the rattle - see if the nylon guides are still good on the window tracks. The DS on my old car (Scott's new one!) rattled like hell because one of those guides was worn.

Can you buy new nylon guides? My windows rattle pretty bad, but I'm waiting to tackle that when I put my new top on.

I wonder this as well - though the new doors seem to be in excellent shape...

I have this same window rattling issue in my M3, and I hate it. I have the old style cable regulator, and I replaced it thinking it might solve the problem-it helped only slightly. So, is the consensus that the nylon guides that attach to the window glass need to be replaced? Or, would the actual one piece window guide channel that the glass rides in need to be replaced?

On the windows matching up with the top, I have had mine adjusted many times by the bav auto mechanic in Perrysburg and a body shop and it has helped but it still catches on the drivers side. I was told that all the ic's have window hitting top problems and it really is not 100% fixable. When I get out I lift the top up alittle and when I get in before I shut my door I roll down the windows.
