    Remote/hidden door button opener

A peer of mine mentioned that his old Camaro would get stolen a lot. So to try to fix the problem he just shaved off his door hinges and somehow relocated a button under one of his wheel wells to open the drivers door. This might be a really stupid question as for this clearly did not fulfill any utility as a security measure but i am curious about it and cannot seem to find any information.

Does anybody know what i am talking about or was this guy just talking out his ass...

1st, it wasn't his hinge he shaved, it was his handle. It actually makes it easier to break into the car because, with just a push of a button, you are in. I had these installed on a truck I once owned. Here is an example of the kit he used.

Door poppers. If your battery dies, you can't open the doors.

Better theft deterrent would be a removable steering wheel. Just take it with you when you park the car.

I was planning on getting a removable steering wheel hub if I went ahead with the door poppers but, I am pretty concerned about the whole battery dying thing.
        Thanks for all the help!
