Those red rally armor $130 universal mud flaps

I want the red ones because they're cool and will match my interior. Any alternatives to spending $130? I'll be driving the car through the snow this winter and I feel mud flaps will help prevent accumulation of hard snow behind the wheels. Plus they look neat. I'm looking for cheap alternative diy ideas or $130 of justification. To any who can help: my checkbook thanks you

They have solid pricing across the board. Sometimes you can use a site's coupon. I bought the generic fit ones for about 50. They are not as thick but work well on an SUV.

You're pretty much stuck to that price when it comes to rally armor.

^ indeed. I wish there was something in between the $15 generic basic flaps and the $130 urethane ones. Something for $65 I'd be okay with

I work at a body shop and have been collecting large flat, and slightly curved pieces of plastic bumper covers that get thrown away. I will eventually try to make mudflaps out of them, when I figure it out I'll post a DIY!

I've been wanting to make a set for my e34 for a while. I'm thinking of making them out of fiber reinforced rubber sheet. McMaster.com is one source for sheeting.

^ I think you misunderstood what I meant when I said diy. What I was thinking is "cut out a square from a cardboard box"

That's what I meant? Buy some 3/16" or so thick rubber sheet and cut some mud flaps out of them.

                    Done and done.

Lol I was being facetious. I took a look at that website and the rubber sheeting part alone must have 50 different options. Though it would be pretty badass to have diy "ultra strength oil-resistant graphene-reinforced rubber" mud flaps.

I guess DIY projects are a lot less complicated looking when you are a machinist.

Don't know if Rally Armor has different grades of materials for their products. But I got a set of plain black ones for my Jeep and honestly they suck. They're thin and flimsy. I haven't had them on it a year yet and they are starting to curl.

I think what I was trying to say would have been better understood in person. Lol. I'll have to take the time to sift through that website and figure out the different types of rubber and see if I can find your fiber-reinforced stuff.

This is the sheet I was thinking of using:

McMaster-Carr is the complete source for your plant with over 595,000 products. 98% of products ordered ship from stock and deliver same or next day.

Not sure on its weather-ability, but it is at least cheap.
