    M Tech 1 installation

    Car: 87 325es US spec
Kit: Euro bumpers with mtech 1 front and rear aprons
Hardware: ECS tuning euro bumper hardware kits

A few questions. i'm aware the mtech 1 rear apron mounts between the metal bumper and the trim as such:

there are elongated slots in the bumper, that line up with round holes in the apron. being i took it apart for paint a year ago and all the hardware was rusty, a lot of it broke in the teardown. here's some of the hardware and im unsure what to use to put it all together. i know it can be all together and bet put on/removed from the car as one piece.

the dirty old rusty one is an original from the teardown. see how its longer than the new looking clip? my issue is the clips wont fit thru the round holes in the apron, but will clip in strong to the elongated slots in the bumper. then i have those flat head bolts that can also slide in the trim, and fit thru the apron holes, but they dont fit thru the elongated slots in the bumper.

do i have the wrong hardware? i've been looking at everything for a few hours trying diff things (and trying not to scratch my fresh paint!). anyone put one together from the ground up?!

also is there a difference between mtech and non mtech euro bumper trim?! here's a pic of the original roached trim next to my new euro bumper trim. the new one looks a bit fatter but is that just cause its new or incorrect?!

basically, id like to know the correct hardware to mount the mtech 1 rear apron to the euro bumper, and if you need mtech specific rear bumper trim. mind you all of this is currently for the REAR installation. also hosted the pics on r3v so i apologize if they're huge i didnt think theyd be like that!

    thanks!

Front and rear? Or just rear?

      Thank you for the response!

The fronts will all work, you have to trim the bottom of the sides, and the center works just fine.

Your pictures are giving me a headache. Anyway, the mounting hardware is different. Where you have clips, the mtech requires bolts.
          Item 13/14:

The head slides into the groove in the trim, like the clips, goes through the bumper and valance and the nut clamps on the backside of the bumper.

Also, download this installation manual (download - I'll remove if I get low on room). I can't read German, but the pictures may help.
