    side skirt quality comparison

looking to add skirts to the AC Schnitzer front spoiler
that i just purchased (thanks e30Matt)...

a couple of years ago i was going through this same
process after installing the same spoiler on my e34
535i...at that time, my initial selection was a set of
Breyton skirts from Tire Rack--after a bunch of hassles
and two sets damaged in shipment, i finally ended up
with a set of poorly designed, crappy fiberglass glue-on
skirts with absolutely no mounting hardware...they were
already beginning to crack so i ditched them, spent an
additional $200 and bought the OEM skirts...
it was the best decision that i could have made...

so...what quality skirts are still available for late model
e30? in a perfect world, i would simply go to the parts
counter at the dealer and grab a factory kit--but that's
    not gonna happen...

my research has revealed 3 basic options besides a
    used OEM set:

    Racing Dynamics
    Hartge
    AC Schnitzer

the ACS kit would be my preference, but it seems that
these are about impossible to find as well...

what's the quality of the RD and Hartge products? i emailed
RD and they have informed me that their kit is ABS plastic...
is this true? and does anyone know how the Hartge kit compares?

if anybody has anything to sell...let me know...

    thanks,

    bert

I've got Ac skirts on my car and there strong. My car is low enough that I can't slide a jack under the side, so I have to sort of pull it into place from behind and for the first bit of travel the arm of the jack is actualy pushing on the skirts. They have a metal back bone with some sort of soft rubber exterior.

yeah...if i can't have OEM, then those are the ones the
      i want...they're simple and clean...

the quality and fitment of my e34 spoiler is excellent and
i look forward to the same with my new e30 spoiler...
i would sure hate to screw it up with some fiberglass
      junk...

i'm actually in the process of creating a "matching" set
of 1990 models--the components won't be exactly the
      same--but very similar...the e30 ACS spoiler was a great
      find...

thanks for your description...so, how about selling 'em?

          Try the RD side panels.

They look really good with the AC front and back pieces although the quality isn't as good.
