Proper BBS RZ restoration choice?

1. Polished metal + some kind of clear coat?
Pros: looks 10/10, harder to fail at
Cons: not an OEM choice, harder to maintain

2. Paint.
Pros:closer to OEM look
Cons: harder to match, plastic'ish look (IMO)

I think I should go with #2, but how to get the paint right?
Real life examples, advises?
