The AC Schnitzer mono wipers and Hartge are link you posted. Are mine. My buddy Jim was researching how to make his own mono wiper.

I set a spare e30 one next to my e28 ones and they are the same, just the configuration is a little different, and the "posts" are longer....but they're similar enough to use the same principle to mono them.

Now, this is what I was playing with last night (lul).

however, upon further testing i noticed that the linkage does come very close to bindage/reversal. this is because at one point in the rotation, the driving link almost becomes parallel to the driver's pivot link. i dont know how to really explain this better without a picture... anyway, the point is, the only reason you dont get bindage/reversal is because the driving link actually HITS the long link between the driver and passenger wiper. this contact effectively prevents the driving link from going too far and binding/reversing.

so to summarize, relocating the stud 12mm works only because the linkage contacts against itself preventing the problems my virtual model predicted. i did and do not feel like this is a good solution as it will cause accelerated wear of the bushings, strain on the motor or noise.

if you look closely at a bonrath mono-wiper for the e30, they actually remanufactured a new link for the driver's side. the ratio between the lengths of both sides is probably very similar to the 12mm relocation, but (very important), the longer lengths keep the driving link at the driver side link closer to 90 degrees at all time preventing bindage/reversal much like the stock linkage.

i went the same route and just drilled a piece of aluminum to the right dimensions and then pressed in the pivots and center stud. a bit more work but a much better result. if anyone is interested, i used 50mm/36mm lengths which seams to provide somewhere between 130 and 140 degrees of sweep.
I kept getting hitting, and it made noise, and didn't seem to be that great of a way to go. So I tried to "clearance" the arms so they wouldn't hit the post. NOPE, makes it worse.

(Basic summary, I have idle time parting cars and end up fooling with shit like this)

    ...and then I found this:

    ACS mono wiper fabrication

So, we're done here. Searching "monowiper" didn't find that thread, but "mono (space) wiper" does. -_-

Last year I bought a Hartge e28 mono wiper linkage. I trade my buddy for a e30 Hartge mono wiper linkage. The AC Schnitzer And Hartge linkage are similar. The AC Schnitzer mono is very different. The mono wiper arm Hartge was using is a e30 arm.

    BUMP.

This thread sucks dick. Here, this is what you do:

    Red is the stock location.

Green is where you move it to.

NOW, problem is, that 12mm....is it from the center of the hole to the center of the new hole, or from the outside edge to outside edge, or from inside edge to inside edge?

Because the e30t post sucks. :hitler:

I'm doing this on my e28, same basic concept, except the assembly is a helluva lot easier to get out. Will do to my e30 eventually.

    My girlfriend didn't approve.

"What'd you do to your wiper?" "Don't ask" "I did, did you break it or what?" "No, i did that on purpose" "Why? That looks stupid as hell, you make fun of cars for their paint jobs and wheels, but you do something stupid like that?" "It's kind of an old european car thing" "This isn't europe, it's america, and it looks stupid here!"

dont know how to quote but damn... sound like a day in the life for me, i hear that shit all day long
