Splitter questions???

I'm going to make a splitter for my zender front spoiler that i have on my car. So how far do you usally have it sticking out past the lip (i was thinking 3/4"-1"?), and do you cut the splitter on the back side for it to follow the back side of the spoiler? Or do you have it go straight across and have it like a tray under the spoiler?

I would make it stick out about 1.5" and have it go all the way back to the front of the wheel wells and tie in to the subframe.
