Need help! Bumper Tuck Q

on an 87 325is -

got the rear done, no prob. was unable to get the shocks off the front. there was no hole in the bumper to remove the bolts. So I drilled the shocks with them still mounted. The driver's side went great. Gave it a good kick and it slipped right in. the passengers side hasn't budged. I drilled a second hole in the shock body and sprayed some liquid wrench in there and all over the shock body. i'm going to let it sit overnight b/c i have to go to work now. Any suggestions on anything else i might try? Thanks!!!

Make sure that when you drill them to go all the way through to the point where oil will spay out .

I've done plenty over the years on varius BMW models and they always compress without any grief .
Although I'm working with rust free southern cars .

Ya, I remember it took me a couple tries on one of my old 86's shocks.

yeah, i should have known. it was going entirely too easy. i'll look at it tomorrow when i have more time and see if there's a way i can get that shock off of there.

I did not pull the shocks on mine, I just drilled a hole in the body of the shock, between the valence and the bumper.

Soon as I hit the PSSSSSH I knew I was golden.

I set the depth of the bumper by hand and measuring tape, then shot 3/8" lag bolts in to keep it in place. I bolted the airdam directly to the bumper and the sides of the valence, near the fenders. I used "button head" allen bolts and nuts.

just got done. what a cluster. completely removed the valance, then unbolted the bumper shocks from the frame and got it out. took a sledge to the one shock. went to bolt it back to the frame but i couldn't get to the bolts. unbolted the shocks individually and placed them in the frame and tightened them down. then wrestled the bumper back on and played hell trying to get it lined up with the reinforcement bar so i could bolt up that end (this is all by myself btw). redrilled new holes for the valance and got aluminum chips all over my ass. but damn i like it. i'll post some pics tomorrow when i get near a camera. :pimp:
