    Roof rail trim

How is it attached? I was looking at an e30 today and it was missing #1 in this link. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...30&hg=51&fg=20 Is it hard to get off another car with out bending? I've taken this trim off of other cars but they was from the 60's/70's. But they wasn't too bad to work with.

They are just sort of pinched on there , no clips .

Once you get either end started they usually come right off with no hassles .

You start at the front of the trim piece by the a-pillar.

You will have to use some screwdriver to pry up the front of the piece and it should just start to snap straight off. once you have the front piece along the a-pillar snapped off, lift it up and outward to get the rest of the piece to disconnect. The horizontal section along the roof needs a slight twist to snap off. Be gentle.

My best piece of advise is to go to a junkyard and practice removing the trim off of every e30 there. That way, when you do it to your car, you will be good at it.

I can snap the whole piece off in a few seconds sometimes. Other times it is a bit more stubborn. and I have to help prying it off with a screwdriver.

I want to bump this up.

What is the best way to reattach the trim? Just crimp with some pliers and a rag?

That's what i did to it. and only to the part that goes on the a piller. I pinched it in 3 different spots and then i it snaped back on. But i only did that to the one on the drivers side. Cause the pass. side was tight getting back on, where the drivers side i could pop off with a touch of a finger.
