Smoking tails and signals/markers?

Hey guys, dumb question.

How many coats of paint/clear did you use to smoke your lenses? I used 2 coats paint and 2 coats clear, but my smoke job isn't lasting but 2 months?

I did about 6-8 coats of the Tamika or whatever it's called smoke paint, (X-19 I think).

I followed this with 2 clearcoats (spray can stuff usually used for touching up paint-jobs).

I haven't done tails or sidemarkers, just front turn signals. However, so that the turn signals are still visable, I recommend getting some DEPO clear turn signals which you can find on EBAY. They are so bright because of their many small reflectors that they are like orange headlights, so smoking them was just the right thing to dim them down to normal levels. Not to mention they look awesome.

What turn signals do you have?

most likly stock because he is painting them

Just the stock 85 318i turn signals. I've already done the fronts and sides, but this weekend I will be doing the rears also if the weather holds up.
