If you paint the front lip the bodycolor, so should all the other black trim at the bottom of the car and the black part on the rear valance.
From what I've seen, having the black (I guess you could call it a) line on the bottom of an E30 does look really good. Although, at sometimes the car can look really high when the black blends in with the ground.
To keep stuff simple, I'd say keep it black. :)- Sean HayesComment

If youre gonna paint the 'is' lip body color, paint the rocker panels and rear skirt to match. I definitely like the results on my car.

Oops, i had originally meant to put a third option on the poll, to paint match the trim and/or bottom of the skirts/rear.
I think that color matching the front can make the car look more aggressive, as the lip is more noticable, but then from the side it looks unbalanced.
My old Infiniti G20 had almost identical paint scheme (I wonder why? - oh yeah, it's supposed to be a poor man's BMW) Anyway, the G20 too had curved-in rocker panels, and the PO had repainted the bottom to body color. I didn't really like it (white, eww). If the rocker panels are going to painted, it looks a LOT better if actual side skirts are put on!
Anyway, another option is Ted's car, with the red lip, and all red trim. It looks good.
But personally, i think i'm going to stick with black trim and black lip. (And red sidemarkers all the way around - the best $10 mod ever (OEM, not spray-painted), looks real clean on a red car. Kick ass.)Comment
