    M-Tech I E30 vs. E28 rear spoiler differences

The E30 trunk lid is 51" wide; the E28 ~53" wide. Are there any identifying marks to differentiate the spoilers? One of the E30 forums have a spoiler pic sticky, but I can't find it.
I have a lead on one with the ribs at the trailing edge and painted panel, but don't need another E28 spoiler!
    TIA!

The e30 M tech 1 does not have ribs (smooth) on the back portion of the rubber piece and the e28 M tech 1 spolier does have horizontal ribs in the backside of the rubber piece. The e28 one is also wider than the e30 by somthing like a 1"+/-

The pic they sent shows the horiz. ribs, so it is probably for the E28 then? Interestingly, it's hard to see the painted front panel in his pic.
Guess I'll hold out for the slimmer/trimmer eS/iS one!

Absolutely. The real M-Tech1 E30 spoiler is smooth as glass accross the back edge of the wing.

E30 Mtech 1 = smooth back (no ribs) fits perfect with trunk lid.

E28 Mtech 1 = 3 ribs on the back and the edge of the wing hangs past the trunk

Well, I got one with the ribs and was told it did come off an 88- M3 but the part numbers on the rubber indicates one from a e28. mine also has ribs. I did notice a difference between the two. besides the length and minor cosmetic difference they are the same I would imagine? I guess paying 100.00 for it in very good to excellent condition was well worth it?

the m3 never came with a m-tech 1 spoiler so that person must have been on crack.
and yes they are pretty much the same but don't forget your trunk will need to be drilled for it to fit somewhat properly (the e28 m tech will never sit perfect) trust me i have one
