best way to strip paint?

What is the bext method to strip paint of an 1987 325is Front Airdamn? I've had 2 others of these but this is the first one I've had that has still had every mounting bracket intact.
So I'll be sticking it on my car. The Paint is allready chipped off in a lot of places so I want to completly strip it, and re-primer and paint it.

i used a household paint stripper but dont do that because chemical of it apparantly can get into the pores of the material (mechanic/body shop dude told me) so you have to get it dipped in somethin to remove that stuff

so if theres an alternative got that way
