I'm not gonna drill the holes in the outside of the fenders. I'm just gonna use the super heavy duty 3m double sided tape, and screw them on the insides of the fenders a-la-mud-flap. Also, I think I'll just remove the extra piece of trim (vert specific) and replace it with a bit of the "roll-o-trim" (1"-ish) from autozone so I won't have to cut the oem stuff. It is certainly going to work. At this point, I think it'll be a ten footer, but the rest of my car is a 20 footer so no big deal...

Wiglaf, have you ever used the 3m double sided tape with the red backer? It is absolutely permanent. And it was taped from the factory...yes, in addition to the plastic rivet things, but I'm not drilling holes in my precious fenders. I promise to let you say "told you so" if they ever fall off.Last edited by Ether-D; 01-17-2013, 09:25 AM.Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"

i tryed it and it can work but the thought i had to drill holes on my vert turned me off....lol
and tape wont hold long and it wont be fun cruising and loosing a side skirt .
If you want you can also use urethane glue that holds better than the tape..sigpic

I do know that the 14" weaves are gonna need to be spaced out to look even ok. Or I need to get et10s(ish) or just go an inch wider when I upgrade my wheels. I just bought new tires for the weaves. Anybody wanna trade down?...;)Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"

Here are some early mock pics. In black primer only. No trim yet, but the fit isn't bad. The rockers are only slightly visible from about 25', But I'm 5'7" so I have a lower perspective...
The skirt has custom made aluminum brackets drilled and JB welded to the back of the skirt then screwed to the rocker under where the trim goes. So if it sucks for whatever reason, I can just put it back to stock with no visible holes. They'll be there, but under the oem trim. On the fenders, I'll screw them up and into the fender on the inside lip, also not visible in the event of removal.
To sum up: All pieces will have screws into metal. The flares will have 3m mega super permanent double-sided sticky tape + screws, and the skirts will only have screws.Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"

Did the boys beat on you and now you wanna beat on somebody? The best way not to feel small is to do something big. The last pic is as FINISHED as it got. You should just do it if you want to see what it looks like FINISHED. I ended up removing it because I didn't like it enough to do the other side of the car.
