    Chrome Trim

Is there a proper way to remove the Chrome trim surrounding the windows? I looked in the manual and it just said slide back the clips and pull up, so i did on my parts car but it bent and warped a little bit and i dont want this to happen to my 318i. Does all of it even come off? I need it off for sanding and painting.
    thanks

i just did this lastnight, but fudged one of them because i rushed. DO NOT RUSH. ok, i think the best plan of attack for the trim is to do one clip at a time, but switch sides every time you get one part off of one clip. so, you'd pry off the right side one clip, then go to the opposite side to pull that one off, then back again to the right, etc etc. anyway, you want to pull them downward and at the same time outward and sort of twist them up. the trim fits on the window like this:

you will want to use a wooden wedge like the bentley says just to get the leverage.

it took me 30 minutes to get that picture right. i also wanted to add that i don't think that you can get the chrome off the popout windows. you'll have to remove the glass if that's the case.
