how to remove center part of dash (heater core module)?

Im not so comfortable with cutting my carpet. So instead, i want to pull it out from under the heater core thing. what holds the center part of the dash down? is it those 4 bolts seen through the cowl from the engine bay side?

my goal is to slack up the heater core part of the dash so i can easily slip the carpet out and back in.

yeah good luck with that. I replaced mine recently and did the ole cut around method and it was a MAJOR PITA to still put in...

what was the hard part if you cut around? the gas pedal?

do you have to remove the door sills, or can i just pull the carpet out from under neath them?

best way is to take everything out, i mean everything. Once I had my dash out, everything else is pie.

Door sills and gas pedal are both very easy to remove, they just need a good grip and pry with a plastic or wood tool.

can you draw me a picture of what holds down the center heater part of the dash? like how many bolts, and are they attached to the firewall?

It's 4 bolts, and you take them out from the engine bay. Took mine out recently. Definately not the most fun experience.

awesome, i took those 4 bolts out already by mistake (thought it was necessary to take out the blower). and then put em back...

so im hoping by loosening those 4 bolts, my heater core module will be slack and i can pull the carpet out from under.
