Power Sunroof Liner Help???

My son and replaced the weather stripping around the sunroof. When reinstalling it we are almost done except we can not get the interior headliner slid forward enough to align the retaining clips/ pins with the holes in the actual sunroof. We lack about 1/4 inch. What is the trick? We have watched all YouTube videos and none show this step and looked in all manuals we can find.

The pics have these 2 parts out of the car but they are installed now and just can't get that stubborn head liner piece back on!

I recently had the same problem. Walked away several times. Finally followed the Bentley directions precisely. Close the sunroof. Slide the cover as far forward as possible. Open the sunroof about an inch. Then it latched for me.
