E36 heated seats? Can I use the parts?

Ok so there is an E36 at the yard right now that has heated seats my
question is can I rip the seats apart to get the elements and the wiring
up to the switches and install this in my car?

Would I need anything else or is it even possible?

There are some affordable heated seat kits out there, using new elements, for bottom, back or both. Google for them. You can then try to find some E30 seat heater switches to complete the install.

I know that there are kits out there but I could get everything from that
car at the yard for next to nothing. So that's why I asked it it could work.

The seat bottom heat pads frequently go bad from being plopped into over time, especially the driver's seat. I wouldn't go through the trouble involved with used components.

I recently had some seats redone and elected to
delete the heat from them, because the upholsterer
told me there were not any kits available that you could
use with the original switches with. you would have to
install and use the switches that come with the kit,
said switches would not fit in the original holes.

anyone installed a kit and used the original switches?

It doesn't seem like using the switches should be all that big of a deal, all you're doing is changing the amount of power flowing through the wires right? - this is purely conjecture, but I wouldn't think it would be all that hard as long as you got the right style... some heated seats have a radial dial for the amount of heat and some are just 'warm' 'hot' 'off'... something like should be pretty simple i would think.
