    I like it better?

Check the classifieds and go try one. Seems like that would be more useful to you.

It may be old but well thought out and comfortable and has many features that many newer cars are just starting to make standard well in the 13 button OBC that is.

Everything is where you would instinctively think it is and the cluster is easy read at a glance, I really like the way the e30 interior is laid out, form a driving perspective any way.

Well laid out with fewer buttons than a lot of newish cars. Materials are actually pretty good, but it should be considering the car's original price point. Compared to its competitors, I'd say the e30 may be a little stark or monotone, but I happen to prefer that.

one of my favorite things about e30s and old bmws in general is the hvac controls. the sliders are the shit. on most other cars you can only get hot air from the defrost and footwells and only get cold air from the front vents, i like to put air where i want it.

i love the e30 interior, simple yet still has the features you need

keep in mind if you buy a e30 from whoever some of the interior items may not work properly.

once you are able to fix them then your solid.
the e30 is simple and just works.

I originally wanted an E36. I loved the interior and all the features.

Needless to say, I didn't get an E36. I think the stock sport seats are a little uncomfortable, but with some extra lumbar cushions I like the E30 interior a lot. Like everyone has said, it's laid out in a logical manner and the 13-button OBC always manages to amaze my 90s-Honda-driving friends. Everyone complains about my back seat being uncomfortable, but I kinda like it. I've had to sleep back there once or twice.

E36 = Smells like a box of crayons, at least those that have seen more sun, etc. With plenty of friends with E30's and E36's, the E30 interior wears much better, no saggy headliner, the a pillar covers and door panel hold up better and won't fall off.

e30 is a nice tight fit, i slide around a bit in the e39 especially when i armorall the seat ;).
i like the electronics in the e39 a lot, but also you have to keep in mind less is sometimes more, if you dont want to worry about electronics breaking buy an e30.
they both have their pros and cons overall i vote very nice e30 > e39
you could just buy an e30 and a newer bmw that solves both problems

My E30 is a 3rd car, and my daily driver is always some sort of new BMW - currently a 2009 328xi wagon.

The E30 is far more cozy and comfortable - no extra controls clutter up the dash, and the HVAC is easy to operate. The ONLY thing I miss from the newer BMWs is the steering wheel controls for the radio.

My E30 still gives me the OBC and heated seats - things missing from many much newer cars.
