Foam filler

Did you have to find any foam to replace while doing this. I want to do my seats too but they need foam in a bad way. Looks great i love the color, looks like the 350Zs interior.

While I was researching PastiDip, I stumbled across a foam filler by the same company, here's the link:

i just cut pieces of foam i bought from joann's fabric store and use a mess cloth to glue it in the hole. then covered it with the new vinyl.

robrez; all I did with the carpet was took it out of the car, pressure washed it let it dry in the sun for a day and bought 6 cans of dupli-color satin black upholstery/vinyl paint. I sprayed the entire carpet and door panels. I didnt do anything special other than spray, let dry, run brush(a hard brush) to move the hair around and spray more coats.

Bump for updates. Awesome that you picked up a new skill (sewing). My wife considers herself pretty good at sewing but she'd never tackle something like that.

Also, could you please share your carpet dyeing process, and color you went with. I'd like to replicate it. Plus it looks like this is M42 318i(s) carpet, which is the same as what I have. Thanks.

Looking good. Do you have any pictures of the seats being made? Also great job on the head rests, they are hard to make, fitment wise, well, so I've found so far.

What sewing machine are you using too? Are you going through 4 layers of vinyl to create the welts/piping?

For the wrinkles you can use a heat gun to help shrink the vinyl to the seats. Use the heat gun on some spare vinyl so you know how much heat to give it so it won't melt when you do it for real on your seat. Be gentle with the heat gun.

the sewing machine i used was a kenmore from sears, not exactly sure what model, but my mom bought it for close to $200. i dont have picture of me sewing, i dunno why i would gay myself out like that ahhahahahah j/k, but it was no secret nor rocket science, just tear all the stitches of the oem seat. iron the pieces if you feel like they would be hard to lay flat and trace on the vinyl. cut as precisely as you can, and mark/ transfer as much from the oem one to the new piece as you can i.e. starting point of the stitches, starting point of the piping, dept of the stitching from the edges.....

I had to buy heavy duty needles, because the ones that came with the machine didnt last long. as for the wrinkles it dont bother me much, but i do have one of those steamer. i'm not sure if the one i have is strong enough, because it's for ironing clothes but i will definatly give it a try.

headrest were a bit tricky, it's a matter of lining up the pieces the right way. make sure you copy and transfer everything exactly the way they where on the oem ones. i had to take apart and resew them a few times because i couldnt get it right the first time.

no experience! first timer!!! just patience. take apart all the oem pieces and get a sewing machine from sears. lay them out on the new fabric/vinyl, trace them and sew back the way the oem was. youtube have some tips and tricks on making piping. thank you all for the compliments. ONE MAIN THING, MEASURE TWICE and CUT ONCE!!!!!

That is an awesome job you are doing-especially considering you are doing all the sewing/stitching yourself. I personally love that color and I think it looks great in your application.

Looks awesome man, love the color, I've always wanted to do a similar color or brown leather interior but can't decide which car to do it to.
