Reupholstering door inserts....

I have searched here, e30tech, and bimmerforums. Google too. I have seen that people have done it. But no one has gone over how. I have black door and rear cards that I plan on using. Would like to replace the ribbed insert with some fabric I have. I am simply curious on the best way to accomplish this.

I did see that. But he does not go into how to attach the edges, so that they don't/won't pull away. Does he cut out the existing material there, and glue the new down? Does he glue it over the old? I am sure he doesn't sew it in, although that would be ideal.
