Does anyone have this illuminated knob and boot combo? I like that knob the best, but im not sure how it would look connected to the boot. Anyone have some more pics of this?

I'm sure it looks so good! I always thought the looking shift knob is illuminated, one-piece with the boot, M-technic stripes, and the round shape instead of the oval. It looks so right!

One of my friend's has that. It looks great but you need to take great care of it.
If the leather tears or cracks, you need to replace the whole thing.

Take that into consideration when you're paying ~150 for this.

Also, don't it light up red, where the e30 dash lights are a orange?

            Here's mine installed.

And a slightly older close up...

While it does light up "red", it's very, very close to the dash lights. If you have red painted needles, it matches those perfectly at night.
            Need a part? PM me.

Looks great. Hows the leather? Any Problems with it?

I've had absolutely zero problems with it and it's been in since November, '09. Still looks and feels great. Very supple and soft leather that's fairly thick in comparison to the little vinyle/leather shift boots for the standard shifters. I'd say 32-16'th thicker.

For those worried about wear and tear, I'd suggest Leatherique's "Klear Kote" or however they spell it. Same stuff I put on my M-Tech II leather wrapped wheel for extra UV and wear protection. I have a Z3 1.9 short shifter and while it is one piece (which had me worried right off) it sits pretty nicely on there. Not as short as the e36 M3 short shifter (weighted, lighted and much shorter). I prefer the feel of this knob (quotable...).

Being one piece, if the leather gets all fuckered in the future, I figure I'll take a close look at how it was stitched to begin with and make attempts at recovering. I don't fore see this happening anytime soon though.

Thanks, Mrboots ;) The M-Tech II wheel is treating me very, very nice. It's even a smaller diameter than the old air bag wheel I had on there. It was like night and day. The first few drives after the swap out I kept turning in just a tad much. Wasn't quite used to the smaller/tighter turn of the steering wheel at all.

Thanks man I appreciate all the info on it. I bought the ZHP knob a few months back, i like the weighted feel of it, but the whole ///M on the knob is a bit to much for me. Mtech stripes are much more reserved and look sick. Much jealously, i just put on a mtech1 wheel thats normal diameter, i can only imagine the 2 in 370mm.

Anytime. Weighted knobs can be realy nice paired with a short shift kit but honestly this shift knob feels like night and day compared to a standard shifter/linkage. Whenever I go to my buddies he always gets in the car and shifts a few gears. He frowns and is all like, "Fuck my life. I need one of these..."

Good for a giggle at his jealousy!

M-Tech 1 wheels are super nice. Once the above mentioned buddy gets off his ass and gets some money, my wife and I will be stitching him a new covering.

Sounds like you got yourself a keeper of a wife there. Well played getting her to stitch shit.

She loved doing it and takes genuine pride in it whenever we get in the car together.

I think there's only like 1-3 people, myself included that has this shifter/boot combo. I really do enjoy it. I've been talking to EMC about getting a genuine leather e-brake boot and handle done up in the same stitching as my wheel. Going to see about tying in the stitching on the wheel with the ///M colors on the knob to the e-brake boot/handle.
