manual sunroof issues

My crank sunroof isn't working properly anymore, It worked fine up until the other day. Now when I try open it I hear it click like 4 times and then it starts to open up, if I try to close the sunroof it does the same thing. It sounds like the handle is skipping gears. Do I just need a new crank or do I need the whole crank assembly.

I have a similar problem but it skips 2 or 3 times per one rotation of the crank. it takes forever to open or close the sunroof. I'm assuming it's a broken gear in the mechanism and the whole unit will have to be replaced in both are cases.

Damn I was hoping it was just the crank. I might pull it apart and see whats going on.
