I think theres like 6 clips that are on the liner that go into the roof itself.... you need to move the roof back about half way and pop them out with a fork tool

Remove the rear clips by the railing, be very carefull cause they will brake if you put too much force on them. Once you've taken those clips out pull the roof back, half way like stated before and then you pry the front clips with a fork tool that is at least 12" long.

            Hope that helps.

Just had a similar problem but much worse.

If the roof still works... Retract the roof about 1/4 of the way. Across the front lip of the panel is where the clips are. They are metal clips that connect the leading edge of the cloth panel to the metal of the bottom of the moonroof panel. You'll need a fork tool, or a wooden wedge to work the free. Start on one side and move across. Once they are out you can slide the cloth back into the roof and get to all the screws and track.

Its a PITA is your roof doesn't work.

Yep. If you can retract the roof a bit and start on one side you can pop them out from the front. Mine were pretty tought but a flat head screw driver did the trick. Once you get first one out you get more leverage as you go across.

Of course I had to man handle my roof back because it was broken in the track so by comparison those were easy.

Yesterday I ordered a full moon roof assebely from that BMW salavge yard in CA. It was cheaper than just the roof panel from the dealer. Shipping wasn' too bad (I'm DC Metro), but I wouldn't want to order anything heavy.
