    Convertible rear headrests FAQ...

Trying to get up to speed on e30 and rear head rests. Workign on the 88 project car and also have a 90 parts car.

When did the e30 convertibles come with them? Can I take the mounting kit and headrests out of the parts car front and install it in the rear seats?

I don't think I even like the look, as the e30 are so clean and simple, but since we are-redoing the seats it might happen.

Anyone know the PN and/or the best way to get a kit?

I got my kit on ebay. When I bought my upholstery kit I just asked the company for an extra set of headrest covers.

The bolt-in set is unique to the rear although the headrests themselves are identical. There's nothing currently on ebay but here are some past auctions. Just check periodically.

all rear seats have holes to mount the headrest brackets, bolts right up with 2 10mm bolts. You could get a kit off ebay or even better at the junkyard. You only have to make two small hold where the headrests go into the seats.

I got my kit for 40 on one of the boards and the headrests at the junk yard. I really like them as it adds a nice comfort feature for the rear seat passengers. Mine look like crap because its really hard to find gray interior in general let alone the convertible style stitching/no piping. Here are some crappyics:
