why does my analog clock lose time? erratically.

my car came with a blown out obc, and i replaced it with an analog clock (very helpful posts made the wiring brainless), but it loses really erratic amounts of time.

sometimes, i'll stop the car and the clock will totally stop too, losing every minute for the time the car was shut off. most mornings though, i come out and start the car and the clock has lost 20-40min over night. totally erratic. doesn't seem to coincide with the time the car is shut off, or the shit i forget and leave on in the car, whatever. no discernible patterns.

it's really helpful that the buttons on the bottom of the clock are so accessible, and i just hit the "into the future" button and catch it up. (one of my joker friends likes to play "into the future" and hits the forward button all the time. he has bruises to show for it. bitch. you know who you are.)

sometimes catching it up with the buttons, it freezes and sticks where it is, with the "future" button not responding until i hit "into the past" button a few times, and then the "into the future" button again and it's moving.

it's not really a huge deal. there are worse things in my car i gotta fix. but it bugs the shit out of me.

any ideas? did i get a shit clock, or wiring, or what? should i pop for another clock and see if that fixes it?

I'd just put another clock in there to see if it fixes it. That would be the simplest solution. Not like they are very expensive.
