    Reupholstering Front Seats

I looked earlier at a re-upholstering DIY thread, but this was basically a pre-made seat cover, I was looking to change out the middle of my front 2 seats where it is worn to a new fabric. The sides of the seats are in great shape so I was wondering if anyone has done this project before? How would I go about stitching these together, if I try to stitch the new fabric to the old it shows the threads and I cant think of a better way to do this, any ideas?

Are you trying to just sew something on the top of the old?

You should: Remove the seat cover, rip the relevant seams out (use a seam ripper; they cost like $3 at the sewing store), cut out a new piece using your old one as a template, and sew it back together like it was from the factory. If you're seeing the stitching, you're probably just not sewing in the same place using the same style of stitch as the factory. You may just need to tighten up your stitches.

No I've taken off the old fabric from the middle of the seat, or I guess a better way to put it is it removed itself:). It was basically all torn up and missing so I only took off a few small parts so I dont really have a template to work with unless I start cutting up the passenger seat. I'm having a hard to how to figure out how to get the cover off, I've taken the seat apart so the backrest and bottom portion are separated, but it seems like the bottom portion's cover is held in by "studs" where all of the reclining handles and stuff is, if that makes any sense at all.

They are non-sport seats, looks like 3 lines going down the middle of the seat, to be honest I am not planning on stitching the middle of these seats, I just got some UV resistant vinyl/pleather and I am looking to put these in place of the current middle portion. If I could figure out how to remove the cover it would make it a lot easier
