I'm a fat ass and I don't fit in sport seats - looking for other options

I recently purchased this 1988 convertible and it's got a beautiful cardinal interior.

The problem is that the oem sport seats are uncomfortable for me.

The bottoms of my thighs sit on top of the bolsters on the seat bottom and it's not cool.

I've got a track car (91 318i slicktop) that I'm in the process of building.

The vert is going to be a "fun" weekend driver and I'm not doing anything too crazy with it.

I'd just like to be comfortable when driving, and I'd still like it to look good.

    I've seen Z3 M-Roadster seats in a vert and I didn't care for them.

I'm wondering about vaders. Maybe I'd have them recovered in cardinal to match.

Do any of you have any suggestion for decent looking seats that are comfortable for a bigger guy?

    I'm 6'1" and about 275.

I don't need comments about losing weight.

    I loves me some bacon!

Hey Levent! I'll let you know if I think of selling it for sure!

I've got a buddy who also has an alpine 88 vert that's local.

He bought my oem white weaves from one of my mt2 cars.

He's also made a claim for the red interior if I decide to go another route.

I was very seriously thinking about importing a dark grey plaid vert interior from Europe. I don't think I will since sport seats aren't comfy for me.

I think vaders or e36 vert seats are the best option for you. My buddies is about your size and he always complains about my seats but is very comfy in his e36 m3.

edit: beautiful cabby, love the interior.

What about E30 comfort seats? They might look goofy in a 'vert, but only to the eyes of E30 geeks. Nobody else would notice.

E21 recaros are better for the heavier folks, I was gonna get a set cause they were stupid cheap. When I sat in one it was way too wide for me (I'm 6'3" 150lbs) The stock E30 sports are perfect for me. Good luck!

                Your car is sexy too.

                  Mertondude,

The vert looks nice (much better than the other convertibles you had), and the cardinal interior is sexy...How in the world did you end up with two convertibles with perfect seats?

What about some regular (non-sport) E46 seats? I am not sure if anyone makes adapters for the E30's, but my E46 seats are comfortable for a daily.

                  Bacon is good.....

                        I thought about it.

I'd be sad if I had to put comforts into a vert.

I did see a guy out east somewhere that was selling cardinal comfort seats.

You'll fit in e36 m3 vaders, I'm not a fat as you but not petite. To me vaders are the coolest looking bmw seat.

I have a neighbor who had a 95 M3 about a year ago and I drove it and I don't recall being uncomfortable.

I'll see if I can find some local to sit in and check.
