    Interior option questions.

Scored a Cardinal Red non sport interior from a Sedan at the junkyard this weekend and I was curious about a few things...

    1. Cardinal red is pure leather right? Not the leatherette? The leather feels a little dry, what would be best to bring it back as the leather has some cracking but there are no tears yet.

    2. The seat has rear head rests and a fold down arm rest with the velcro ski pass cover. The rear seat was pulled from an early bumper 325e (87 I think) Did they come from the factory with rear head rests or was this pulled from a different year??

They are definitely sedan seats as they have no forward tilting mechanism.

    1. It's leather. Www.leatherique.com for restoration.

    2. If it was a sedan, the headrests were probably stock, especially if it had the ski pass through.

haha If you weren't in Wisconson I'd tell you to bring them cardinal sports to me and you can have the non-sports..

What color carpet do the Cardinal cars come with? The car I pulled these from had charcoal carpet and speaker tray and a tan headliner.

It depends on the trim level of the car. Most 325s came with grey carpet, but most M3s and cabrios had cardinal carpet, doorcards, map pockets, pulls, etc.

Black M3 with FULL cardinal interior =

It was a 325e, power sunroof, power windows, auto, 13 button obc, premium speakers, and the door cards and pulls/map pockets are cardinal, thats about all I can remember.

I don't think any hardtops aside from the M3 came with cardinal carpet.

Oh ok. I was going to nab the charcoal carpet too but when I lifted the back of the front section I found it was soaked and stank to all hell underneath :-( . Dealt with that in my Old Jetta VR. Had to pull the carpet up, pull out all of the foam padding and then lay new padding just to get rid of the stench... I'll just keep an eye out for another charcoal car before these seats go in.

Does anyone make new replacement carpet?

And are all regular E30's tan headliners?

And then whats the deal with the rear headrests? I've got tan cloth in this sedan but no arm rest/ski pass or head rests. My 89 325is was tan leatherette and had the rear arm rest but no headrests. Was it just an E thing?

From what ive seen. There were never cloth rears with headrests or armrests. Every rear seat has a provision for headrests though.

Buy a good used carpet and clean it. Aftermarket ones suck.

The options during the '87 model year vary greatly. The 325e was the only m20 e30. Some were optioned out, some stripped down.
