    Reupholstering Sport Seats

I got some blue leather sport seat for free when I purchased my e30. Talk to a guy today saying he will reupholster both seats for $400 in black vinyl plus paint all the blue plastic black. Is that a deal?

Anyone know a cheaper place in SoCal to reupholster seats?

I wouldn't....everyone switches to vinyl thinking their getting a deal and then when they try to sell them they can't get their money back. If there are no rips in the leather; which in most cases they do. I would just re dye it and bring it back to new with a little elbow grease. A) the leather becomes fresh, and it stays leather and you'll get your money back on them if you sell. Vinyl is the cheaper route to go.

but that is just my humble opinion...lol.

That's a good deal. A mint set of vinyl sports is worth $500

I wouldn't bother...those are parts seats..some things are just beyond repair...lol I'd strip the leather, inspect the sponge and frame to make sure these are sound and then go from there. If the these parts are good and the seat shocks still work along with recline etc. Get new leather or whatever and fix em. if not. part it.

Those are garbage. Looks like you would need new foam also.

I would just change those, the foam is probably no good anyway, right. You can find a mint set of front sport seats in black vinyl for about 400-450 I say just replace them

If you do recover them, I HIGHLY suggest going with cloth centers and vinyl bolsters. Cloth is cool in the summer and warm in the winter, not to mention holds you in the seat better.

I'll stick with vinyl only becuase I don't want to reupholster the whole interior. My front seats are actually in great condition, I just want sport seats.

Talked the guy down to $300. Just haven't gotten to it. He said he will reupholster them with the same stitching layout/pattern and stuff. We'll see.
