center console red ambient lighting??

So in newer BMWs, there is a small red light that lights up the center console.

Is this light on the map light rear view mirrors? or am I going to have to fandango something? I need this in my car stat!

Anyone have any experience with this?

There was a thread on this. But i think it maybe a year or two old... if i was feeling a little better, i'd search for it, for you.
