    Seat retrofit--Miata edition

The seats in my S ETA are in horrendous shape. While I am saving up for a nice set of recaro's for the car I have a pair of very nice Miata seats. I am planning on removing the tracks from the miata seats, removing the tracks from the oem seats, cutting the cross bar off from between the tracks and building brackets to join the two. Bolt to bottom of Miata seat and weld to factory sliders.

Anybody ever seen miata seats in an E30?

I will take pics and document this process. My biggest concern is to get the height and pitch of the seat correct so I have plenty of headroom (I'm 6'1) with my helmet on for Autox.

    Wish me luck.

A lot of guys put Miata seats in their MGB's without headroom issues, so I think you should be fine in an e30.

Id be more worried about a harness, my room mates miata (NA) and most of them have attached headrests that slope down to the lower bolsters, so there is really no place to rest it.
If thats not a problem then they are good seats, not bad bolsters for stock seats and they are designed to get drivers really low (Im 6'2" and i fit just fine -helmet) so I would asume you would have plenty of room in an E30. The material used, while not very attractive is designed specifically for a convertible, so you rarely see torn ones, either way factory fit recovery kits arent to expensive.

I have gotten the seats in, I just have to remember to take some pics of the mounts I had to make in order to get the seats in place. They do sit lower than a normal E30 seat, great for me (I'm 6'1) but a little to low for my wife who occasionally drives the car.
