shift knob and stick

what would be the best way to go about changing the stick and knob?
all suggestions are welcomed.
this stock one is HUGE and such a long throw, what should i go with, who makes a good short throw?

Using a shifter out of a Z3 or Z4 is a popular way to get a short throw shifter for a whole lot less than going aftermarket. Somewhere out there is a thread with illustrations and part numbers for several different models so you can pick and choose the overall length and the reduction in throw. If you go aftermarket I've heard great things about UUC.
