    Fabric question

I'm looking to recover my new (but really quite old) set of sport seats and instead of paying out the ass for someone else to do it, I'd like to pick my own fabrics and do it myself. I'd like to use fabric in the middle and some type of leather everywhere else.

So my question is, where do I go to buy fabric?? And has anyone else done this and have advice for me?

    Thanks :)

It's a LOT of work. If you're going to do a decent job, figure around 30-40 hours of work, probably more. Not saying it can't be done, but you know. You don't want to get just any fabric either, since many fabrics aren't treated to deal with the harsh conditions (UV and such) that automotive interiors have to endure.

Probably an online retailer such as http://www.midwestfabrics.com/ would be best, although you may have a local place that is able to source automotive grade upholstery. Maybe some of the more experienced members could shed light on this (although I think Kevin Chinn of creative options hasn't been posting a lot lately)

Check out this guys website, it should give you a quick preview of what you'd be in for:

Its been done, my buddys wife stitched up my front seats and we installed it, PAIN IN THE ASS proccess but it is much cheaper then paying a shop to do it. you can order fabric and all the material online or check your local fabric stores. Upside is you can add heated seat pads while doing all this! ill try to post pics later.

Thanks! Yeah I'm just really sick of riding around on a towel for a seat but I don't have the money to blow on getting them professionally recovered.

Try finding cloth seats in the same pattern off of a junkyard car and swap 'em over...
