    Removing Shift Knob

So I recently acquired a 1987 325e, and I was wondering how the thing comes off? I have tried un-screwing and also just pulling? It doesn't budge. Thanks!

Put it in second gear, pull.

I will second the motion of not hitting yourself in the face. However, watching a friend do this is awesome

So it just yanks? Is it not a normal threaded shifter? Sorry, the car is in the shop so I can't check it out my self. Thanks for the fast responses. I will post pics of the black eye I will probably give myself.

It has a clip inside that clips to shift lever. Just pull. It could have some tape or glue in there from a PO acting dumb. Welcome to r3v

You should value that you're shift knob stays on. Even if it breaks you or you're tough guys nose.

still haven't had time to take off the knob, as it is in the shop. Is the shifting "shaft" threaded? Or is it just for OEM push on knobs?

no, a piece inside the oem knob clips onto the top of the shift lever.

and yeah, i was driving my buddies swapped vert the other day, tried to slam it from 2nd to 3rd and ended up holding the shifter and dropping it in nuetral. yeah that was funny.
