    Wet Carpet

So my heater core gave out a few weeks ago. When it happened it leaked coolant into the carpet on the drivers side by the pedals. I had to leave a fan in the car for days. The wetness kept coming back so today I pulled the seat out and pulled up the carpet to find the padding was wet. I then noticed that the material similar to dynamat was cracked. There's a grommet there that was completely dry rotted and wouldn't stay in place.

What should I do to seal the hole where the grommet was?

clean up the area first. clean the plug thoroughly. You can use JB- weld to seal it.
but that carpet isn't going to dry out anytime soon. it is an oily substance. you'll have to take out the carpet and pressure wash it -dry it out and then install it. or shampoo the crap out of it and use a shop vac to suck up as much of the liquid as possible and then heat dry it.

      ^ yup

Even from just being wet I couldn't get the water out of my carpet with it in the car thanks to the foam. Pulled it out, pressure washed it and let it air dry. Didn't take long with both sides getting wind exposure.
I don't always wreck cars, but when I do I wreck them into trees.
